Charities

The eponymous Marmaduke Langdale charity, bearing the name of the flamboyant English Civil War royalist general and Yorkshireman Marmaduke Langdale, was established in 1900. In accordance with its constitution this charitable body awards educational grants to young people engaged in current education and training, residing in the village of Skirlaugh.

Grants are also provided to the local parish church, St. Augustine's, and the village primary school.
